Shriners Hospitals betting review: Cantlay charges back

Shriners Hospitals betting review: Cantlay charges back article feature image

From a betting perspective, Sunday at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open couldn't have gone much worse.

Beau Hossler fell from the co-lead to a tie for seventh, wiping out all bets in the process. But from a golf perspective, it's great to see Patrick Cantlay reach the winner's circle. If you haven't read his story and what he's had to work through to get back onto the golf course, it's something worth checking out.

Patrick Cantlay has been through a tremendous amount for a 25 year old, including severe injury and tragedy: https://t.co/XpA7xTXjgGpic.twitter.com/nu5cCxsk02

Cantlay came from four shots back to beat Alex Cejka and Whee Kim on the second playoff hole. Winds again whipped up during the end of the round and made scoring difficult for the leaders.

A side note on Cejka: He shot a final round 63 to come from eight shots back just to reach the playoffs.

Overall, I was wiped out by Hossler and Charley Hoffman not making a run. I did recoup some of it by hitting 3-balls with Cejka and A.J. McInerney at +200 and +300, but I made those plays after Sunday's post was published, so they won't be included in the totals here.
