Weekend Moose Tracks: Overtime, where underdogs go to die

If you don't think that moose are a national epidemic after watching football this past weekend, you need to pay closer attention, because children are not even safe now.

For those of you not familiar with the term "Moose," it has been used for years within the sports betting world to reference a bad beat. It originated within the old school gambling forums more than 15 years ago, and has stuck ever since.

With the college football season now coming to an end, I will now highlight the five biggest "mooses" from each weekend across various sports from my perspective (I can't see everything). Let's get into the five worst beats of this past weekend.

5. Rams 2H -2.5

It took a fair catch with one second remaining in the game to set up this play that led to a half-point loss for all Rams second half bettors. #BanLaterals

4. Oklahoma -3

Oklahoma led by as many as 17 in the second half and still held a 10-point lead with 90 seconds left. However, they failed to cover after USC finished the game on a 5-0 run over the final 20 five seconds. During that span, Oklahoma missed all four of its free throw attempts, eventually holding on for a two-point victory. #BackdoorBetty

3. UCLA +7

UCLA never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 15 points, but Michigan somehow found a way to force overtime in the final minute. The Wolverines hit back-to-back 3 pointers in the first minute of overtime and eventually got outside of the number for the first time all game a few minutes later. To top it all off, UCLA backers couldn't even get a wide open layup to fall for the push in the final seconds. #Moose

2. Colts +3.5

If only Adam Vinatieri had made either the 33-yard field goal earlier in the game on the side of the field with the easier conditions or missed this 43-yard extra point into some kind of tornado blizzard, Colts bettors would have never had to suffer through the overtime that eventually ended with a walk-off LeSean McCoy 21-yard touchdown run with a minute left. #OfCourse

1. Browns +3.5

Only Cleveland can find a way to not cover 3.5 points at home with a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter. The Browns even started off with the ball in overtime after winning the toss, but they inevitably threw an interception and then gave up this touchdown on third-and-6 on the ensuing possession. If they just make the tackle, the Packers kick the game-winning field goal. #JustWhy
